"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching!"
Hebrews 10:25

My name is James Kelm, and I currently serve as the Pastor of the Foundational Christian Family Ministry. Along with my wonderful wife Kimberly, I make my home as well as operate the Foundational Christian Family Ministry, in the beautiful state of Minnesota. I came to Minnesota via Michigan, where I was born and raised. God brought me to Duluth in 2007, and as the old saying goes, the rest is history.

I was raised from the beginning with an awareness of God, but didn't have a true understanding of what it meant to have a personal relationship with Him until much later. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior at the age of 13, while attending a local church, and tried to follow God's directions for the next several years. The struggles of growing up in a violent and very dysfunctional household took their toll, and although I maintained my belief in God, my attempts to live as a faithful Christian significantly dissipated by the time I began attending college.

As I left my 20's, God began to call to me once again. With so many different denominations and interpretations of how one developed a personal relationship with God, I became both confused and frustrated. I decided that the answer to my confusion and frustration was to find out who God was for myself, rather than simply allowing myself to be told by others. I dove into the Bible, and began diligently studying scripture. I again began attending an Assembly of God church, but this time with a much deeper desire to study scripture, and truly learn who God was for myself.

By the time I reached my late 30's, I had gained a level of personal understanding and interaction with God that went beyond anything that I could have ever anticipated. I became more and more active in the church that I was attending, and began to be asked to speak before the congregation from time to time. I became a member of the church's prayer team, and began performing regularly as a Christian musician. People began suggesting that I consider the ministry, but a lack of both confidence and self-esteem caused me to dismiss such a suggestion. God had different plans for me however.

As I entered my 40's, I was hired as the music director of a non denominational church. The River City Church was a mission church that addressed both the spiritual, as well as physical needs of the members of the local inner city community. Again the suggestion of me pursuing the ministry was brought up, and I approached the senior pastor to ask for guidance. I was encouraged to accept what God had been leading me to. Before long I was ordained by the church, and was promoted to the position of assistant pastor.

The death of a parent, the downward turn of the Michigan economy, etc, caused me to begin asking God for His direction for my future. He led me to leave Michigan, so I sold my home and took a major leap of faith. I did not have a strong sense that I would be going directly into the ministry again once I moved to Minnesota, but God's plans are not often what we anticipate. After a great deal of prayer, family discussion, and Christian council, Kimberly and I decided to establish the Foundational Christian Family Ministry, as a first step toward what we believe may be God's directives for us. Only time and God's guidance, will truly tell us what direction this ministry will go.

We sincerely ask for all of your prayers, that God will guide us in using this ministry as a tool to help in the advancement of His ultimate plan. This ministry is truly an act of faith for us. I am ordained by, and am a member in good standing in several ministerial associations, but we currently do not have any financial resources beyond my meager family's household funds. We are simply a small Autonomous group of dedicated Christians, who have a sincere desire to stand before God on the day of judgment, and have Him say to us that we have been good and faithful servants. We pray that many of you who are reading this, will assist us with your prayers, encouraging E-mail, and any other encouragement and support God leads you to offer us!
